Ever Wonder What There is To Do for Families Visiting the Southern Coast of Maine

`

Have you ever wondered what is there really to do in Maine for families. With a license plate is noted as Vacationland, there should be no doubt that you can find something for the whole family, and in this blog I am going to touch on just a little bit of it.

In June 2020 after the pandemic hit my husband and I felt the need to get out of the confinement of our house and decided to research some places with in short driving distance from home, and with several different places coming to mind the real decision maker was when my 7 year old son at the time stated "My Toes are Sad, they need the beach". That was it Coastal Maine it was and we have gone back every year since, sometimes twice a year .

So why the Southern Coast of Maine you ask, the simple answer to this is there is something for everyone if you are are interested in swimming, sunning yourself, site seeing or maybe you want to go fishing, the Southern Maine coast line has all of those options.

Our favorite beach is in Wells Maine, it is 7 miles of Sandy beach where my sons can fly a kite, body board, skimboard and my husband in the early morning can wake to try his luck at surf fishing. As the day progresses on and as the tide moves out it gives an opportunity to start searching the surface for some sea glass. There is always a little something there for us to admire.

Now how about those rainy days in Maine, who doesn't like a little "Retail Therapy". There are some great little shops on Route 1 in Oqunquit, Maine and if you are looking for a list visit Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce , they do a great job of listing them all right there for you. I personally really like the "The Tea Space" located at 234 Main Street, Ogunquit, Maine there are so many varieties you could be there for hours picking just the right one. I personally like that they offer some from right there in there little towns .I make sure that I go there every time we are visiting to get all stocked up.

Now how about those days when the kids need a little break from the beach what do you do then you ask? Thats easy there is a place just down the way for both adults and children, in little ole Kittery Maine called "Take Flight" where you can partake in an Aerial Adventure Course, Zip Line Tours or you can even do some Team Building exercises. My family really enjoyed their time taking advantage of the ropes course, however if you know me I am very scared of heights so I did not take part in this activity, but I would really like to get the courage to do this sometime because it really looks exciting and fun!

Now like I said not being very adventurous I am more of the Mini Golf type, or it could just be my competitive nature, in any case our favorite Wells-Maine Mini Golf . Its not super fancy but it has the personal feel.
